ALAFIA STATE PARK. BRANDON, FLORIDA

13 hours of Santos 2007 1st Place Co-Ed
Jim, Beth(support), Belinda, Julianne, and Humberto

Our first stop was Alafia State Park to meet up with friends and do a bit of moutain biking and socializing. Art and Julianne North camped with us for several days with pups Buck and Ellie. Julianne set it up for us to do trail work in lieu of paying for a RV site. Julianne, John and I got all of the river loop trimmed back and Johnny and Art worked on the roots in Rock Garden. It's only May but pretty hot and humid. Humberto Diaz and Belinda Williams met up with us to ride on Sunday. Belinda and I had a little trouble staying on our bikes and we have the bruises to prove it! I'm out of practice...not sure what Belinda's excuse is......The park is in really good shape considering how dry it has been. A few sandy spots but not bad. We got another surprise. Rich and Julie drove up from Sarasota for a short visit. Haven't seen them since our last race? Great to see you guys? All in all an awesome stop. Great friends and great riding!

Greetings from Michigan

Hi you guys,

Congratulations!

I for one am envious. We haven't been out in the coach since we returned from our Bike Journey, except for weekly trips with the race car, but that doesn't count.

We are off to a Nostalgia race in Ohio this weekend, a gathering of geezers as it were.

Hope you may still head this way. The offer still holds and we would love to see you. No rush though as we have freeze warnings for tonight!

Should be better after June 1.

Have too much fun.

Carol and Greg

Congratulations John!

John

A big congrats on your recent retirement from EMS. You defintely did not waste any time transitioning from retirement to hit the road. You & Beth have come a long way from your early Airstream Bambi days to the Big Bus. So do you have a name for your bus? I'll be looking forward to your posts, photos, and maybe some videos on your big adventure blog.

Enjoy the ride!

Wayne

The adventure begins......

Well we have been working toward this point for the past few years. Downsized from the house to the condo. Spent 6-7 months looking for a coach that met both John and my criteria as well as our budget. Not an easy task. Purchased our bus in January 2007. Moved into the bus full time in April 2007. We have been living at Rock Creek RV Resort since then. I'm thinking our friends and family think we are a little crazy with the motor home thing and that it probably wouldn't last. Not sure what they are thinking now....one year later.

It's official. John is retired from EMS. No more middle of the night flights. Yeah. I think he is pretty happy. There has been a lot of singing.

So the adventure begins.......
